Committees

Becoming a member volunteer at the NCBN provides you with an opportunity to develop your people management and communication skills and enhance your self-confidence.

Get Involved.

By getting involved as a member of a committee, not only will you have a pedigreed introduction to many members of Canada’s business community as well as welcome many business delegations from Nigeria, but best of all, you get to have fun doing it with a group of positive successful business people. Contact one of the chairs at any of the following committees to get involved.

BUSINESS-PERSONS OF THE YEAR AWARD (BYA) GALA COMMITTEE

The BYA Committee is responsible for the Business-person of the Year Awards Gala. We secure BYA-specific sponsorships, and plan all aspects of the gala evening from staging, décor, and food to music, VIPs, Emcee, gifts and prizes.
Once the Nominating and Awards Committee has announced the Finalists, the BYA Committee coordinates the Finalist – Sponsor Reception, numerous media interviews, photographs and videos.
The committee works with the communications committee, and the Media to market and provide media coverage. The year-long gala planning cycle culminates in June with one of Canada’s premier business award events.

GOLF COMMITTEE

The Golf Committee’s mandate is to increase the profile of the Annual Charity Golf Tournament to be recognized as one of Canada’s premiere networking golf tournaments. Proceeds that are raised with the support of sponsors and attendees are dedicated to a Hospital Foundation’s initiative, which is committed to people’s health in Canada and/or Nigeria.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

The Marketing and Communications Committee raises awareness of NCBN members, NCBN initiatives, Partners, and Sponsors. With our focus on social media, we position NCBN as THE respected forum where businesspeople of integrity & diverse backgrounds both in Canada and from Nigeria openly connect and are inspired. In direct support of the NCBN purpose, “To Inspire people in their business lives”, we foster community engagement both to NCBN members and to the broader business community.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

The Membership Committee welcomes new members to the NCBN and is the point of contact for inquiries by our current members and prospective members. The Membership Committee also coordinates the popular quarterly Mix & Mingle Breakfasts Series. These breakfasts allow for a friendly welcome into the NCBN for our new and prospective members, in more relaxed environment with a focus on networking.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE

The Program Committee is responsible for the planning and organizing of the NCBN’s events. The events are planned around areas of interest to our membership such as networking, professional development, hands-on learning and, of course, fun.

PARTNERSHIP/SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE

The Sponsorship committee works with other committees seeking sponsorship and then assists in identifying and approaching potential sponsors. We ensure benefit delivery and proper communication of the sponsorship program, liaise with sponsors, coordinate appropriate methods of thanking sponsors, and document and update the sponsorship program as required.
